101-Year Old Man Gets New Driving License
Langley, WA (AHN) - Alden Couch on Monday passed the 100 year milestone, as he celebrated his 101st birthday. But nearly a week ago, he cleared yet another signpost when he successfully passed the state driving test and got his new driving license.
Elated with the freedom to drive around, couch had planned to take a drive down to the local senior center in his six year old Chevrolet Impala before heading to a party his friends had arranged for him, according to the HeraldNet.
At a point, Couch felt he was about to lose his test when the state examiner noticed he was not giving turn indicators. But he acted well in time and "started signaling."
Although Couch had not parallel parked for 10 years, he "sailed through that like nothing," he told the HeraldNet.
The State's decision to issue a driving license to Couch has also relieved his son who says he had to follow his father every once in a while to make sure he's driving safely.
"I feel a lot better about that," Bill Couch told the HearldNet.
When asking Couch about the key behind maintaing his youth, he subtly says, "A good shot of rum, then Coca-Cola. Every night."
