The Australian judicial system at its best. No doubt this &%^# will get access to the child when he gets out.

A father who let a paedophile he met on the internet sexually exploit his five-year-old daughter has been sentenced to seven years jail.

The 40-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was recently found guilty by a Brisbane District Court jury of indecently dealing with a child with a circumstance of aggravation and possessing child computer pornography.

He was aged in his early to mid-30s when the offences occurred.

Judge Hugh Botting on Thursday sentenced the man to a total of seven years jail but ordered he be eligible for parole after serving half the sentence.

"You provided your daughter for his use - someone who was your own lineal descendent," Judge Botting said during his sentencing remarks.

"The enormity of betrayal of trust as a father is ... a very significant factor."

He said the other man, whom the father met in an online chatroom, was connected with a network of paedophiles through the internet.

"He was a proactive person seeking contacts and people to engage in child abuse," Judge Botting said.

He said the man and the young girl had been photographed in various indecent positions.

Indecent photos were also taken of the daughter alone.

The trial heard allegations that the father had taken the pictures but the jury didn't accept that.

The court also heard the father set down some conditions when he handed over his daughter, one being no penetration.

The other man pleaded guilty in 2004 to similar child sex charges and testified against the father at his trial.

Dude, that's how the courts work here. Everyone is a victim (including the crook). I dont know how many times I've sat in court and heard "society is to blame for this man/woman to appear before you today, your honour"..utter crap.

What happened for people being responsible for their actions? I don't buy into that society crap. Unless he is incapable of normal mental function, he made a concious decision to do this and is no better then the animal he handed his daughter over to.

I hope he gets 'sorted out' while in Jail. He would in a UK prison, they don't much like kiddy fiddlers!! And after you with the lead pipe.

Must not have been too significant to warrant only 3 1/2 years in the can. Someone needs to crack into the Judge's computer... there might be some kiddie porn on it, too. He seems so 'understanding' of these low-life animals.

At least I can see that we aren't alone here when dealling with the Criminal "In"justice system. Something as unconscionable as surrendering your own 5 year old child for sex acts should net a much longer sentence than beating up your brother-in-law.
