$5,000 ends suit over Taser on mom-to-be

A federal lawsuit stemming from a September 2004 wedding fracas in Evergreen Park, where police used a stun gun on the pregnant bride, has ended with the village agreeing to give the woman's now 2-year-old child $5,000.

Police responded to complaints of loud music at a house on Francisco Avenue, where Clarence Phelps was hosting a wedding party for about 70 guests for his daughter, Romona Madison, who was two months pregnant.

In their suit, Phelps and Madison alleged that police used excessive force in arresting them and used the Taser on Madison's abdomen despite knowing she was pregnant.

Under the settlement, both sides agreed that Madison's baby "sustained no provable injury." The $5,000 will be designated for use only for the child, according to court documents.

Phelps and Madison were convicted last year of resisting arrest and battery related to the confrontation with police.

Sure they did. How about they tasered the "bride" because she is most likely acted like a moron who needed to be tasered?
