Ex-officer acquitted of kidnapping, rape
NEW ORLEANS -- A former New Orleans police officer has been acquitted of charges alleging he kidnapped and raped a woman stopped in the middle of the night.
Keith Griffin, 39, was found not guilty late Friday by a state district court jury following a trial during which he admitted having a sexual encounter with the woman while on duty, but denied raping her.
Griffin, who had been in jail since his arrest in 2005, would have received a mandatory life sentence without parole if convicted of aggravated rape. He also was acquitted of second-degree kidnapping after the jury deliberated for about three hours.
The ex-officer said he made a "pedestrian stop" on July 10, 2005, to see whether the woman was wanted on any warrants, and that the two then flirted and she agreed to meet him on the Mississippi River levee for a sexual encounter.
The woman testified that Griffin forced her into his squad car, drove her to the levee and raped her on the hood of the car, threatening to kill her if she told anyone.
Griffin's defense attorneys said the woman and her boyfriend conspired to frame him for rape as revenge for his having arrested them in December 2004 for possession of crack cocaine. Prosecutors refused the drug charges a month after the couple's arrest.
Griffin had also been charged with malfeasance for while having sex in uniform. But prosecutors said the charge was dropped because that portion of the indictment was missing from the court record.

I mean...seriously. Are we not smarter than that? Really? Banging a crackhead on duty? Really? That's how you're going to represent this job? Really? You, sir, are a disgrace to this job. Suck it.

I have to be honest and say i have mixed feelings..
I am glad that the set up was revealed and that he will not have jail further upon the investigation revealing what it did...
however... I am also glad that he lost his job because it is beyond me that a man cannot hold his dick for the shift and meet up with someone after... to do that on duty is just friggin dumb and I am glad he paid the price for that stupidity
I hope he learned to control his penis from now on...http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion
