I guess Georgia hasn't learned their lesson on courtroom and jail security...?
A jail security officer in Clayton County has been placed on administrative leave after a woman visitor got past an X-ray machine carrying a gun.
The breach led officials to close two Clayton County courts yesterday after hearing the woman had breached security the night before.
Sheriff Victor Hill says the unidentified woman entered about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and left before the lone deputy at a 24-hour checkpoint noticed the image of the pistol scanned as she went in.
Hill said the woman "came for a jail visit, and the deputy was inattentive to his duties." He said she got as far as the lobby and was called back because she was not in compliance with a dress code for jail visitors.
Hill had deputies search the entire courthouse as a precaution. He said there was no breach of courtroom security, and the judges didn't have to shut down the courts.
But courts administrator said that because it wasn't certain that the woman didn't leave the gun inside, the judges were concerned because the courthouse is connected with the jail.
