Four people shot at West Side birthday party

Four young people were shot -- two of them critically wounded -- in an apparently gang-related shooting during a birthday party on the West Side early Saturday.

The shooting happened about 2:40 a.m. at the 4600 block of West Huron Street, according to police News Affairs. Police had earlier said the shooting took place at the 4700 block of West Huron Street.

During a birthday party, an unknown male became "embroiled in a verbal altercation with someone," according to police. That man left the party, but returned and began shooting at the person he argued with, police said. Four people -- a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, were struck by gunfire.

The 20-year-old man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. The 21-year-old man was also taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in "stable" condition, according to News Affairs.

The 23-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, and the woman was taken to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, where she was listed in "stable" condition.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.

I bet these were some poor innocent young people, my ass. I am tired of the news trying to make these victims look like victims. One good motto to live by working in the hood here, todays victim, is tomorrows offender.
