Unoccupied car leads to $270,000 drug bust on Southwest Side

An unoccupied vehicle parked in an alley led detectives to 115 pounds worth of marijuana on the Southwest Side Friday night.
Wentworth Area Burglary, Robbery and Theft detectives observed an unoccupied vehicle parked in front of a garage on the 3500 block of West Pershing Road at about 9 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
After hearing some noises coming from the garage, the detectives went to investigate further and recovered 115 pounds of marijuana -- which as a street value of approximately $270,000 -- inside the garage in garbage bags, Greer said.
One person was arrested in the drug bust but no charges have been filed against the suspect as of 4 a.m., Greer said.
