Corrections officer charged with dealing meth
STACEY MULICK; The News Tribune
Pierce County prosecutors have charged a state corrections officer with one count of drug dealing after she allegedly sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant.
Cheri Lyn Cantrell, 38, was scheduled to make her first court appearance on the charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance Tuesday afternoon.
Court documents give the following account.
A former neighbor of Cantrells reported to Tacoma police that the two used to do meth together. The neighbor also said she used to buy meth from Cantrell.
On April 30, the informant contacted Cantrell and arranged to buy meth. The phone call was recorded.
The informant gave Cantrell money the next day. On May 3, Cantrell allegedly delivered the drugs to the informant. The drugs later tested positive for meth.
Cantrell, a probation officer, was arrested Friday at a state Department of Corrections office in Puyallup.
She did not make any statements to police.
