ROANOKE, Texas -- Deputies are asking for the public's help finding the man they said is behind a robbery and shooting in Roanoke near the Tarrant and Denton county lines, NBC 5 reported.

The Denton County Sheriff's Office released a composite drawing of the suspect who is described as a white man, 5 feet 6 inches in height, 30 to 35-years-old, with hazel eyes, dark hair and a muscular build.

The man was wearing all black clothing and carrying a 12-guage shotgun when he tied up two men at a Roanoke business around 10 a.m. Friday, deputies said.

Deputies said the man shot one of the men in the foot and stole his car. The victim was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he was reported in fair condition.

A constable spotted the vehicle and chased it into the Chadwick Farms subdivision, southeast of the intersection of State Highway 114 and Interstate 35 West, deputies said.

Deputies said the man abandoned the vehicle, jumped a fence and fled on foot. Witnesses reported seeing the man drive off in a grayish tan Chevrolet Silverado, possibly with an extended cab, authorities said.

The neighborhood and several schools were on lockdown as SWAT teams scoured the area for six hours.

Residents were allowed back into their houses at 5 p.m. and adjacent areas were searched for another hour, according to deputies.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Denton County Sheriff's Office at 940-349-1600.
