Officer Domingo Rivera has a 2000 Crown Victoria that he's willing to part with for around $6,000. He's a Dallas cop and he got the car to do some off-duty security work. It's a fully-equipped unmarked squad car, complete with a spotlight, a place for a laptop, and flashing lights in all the right places.

Rivera says he's getting rid of it because some of his fellow officers thought it was wrong for him to be driving a fully-functioning squad car in his personal life.

So he put an ad on the website Craig's List, complete with the extra advantages of driving a cop car, like possibly avoiding traffic tickets. "Cops don't typically pull other cops over," he reasoned.

Other officers didn't like the idea at all. Cockrell Hill Police Chief Catherine Smit had a real problem with someone selling a fully-equipped police car to the public.

She said there have been too many cases of someone who impersonated an officer to commit a crime—in fact, she said she was nearly the victim of a serial rapist who posed as a cop 20 years ago.

"He was known as the 'Loop 820 Rapist' and he was going around sexually assaulting women," she said.

Rivera apparently had a change of heart, because after FOX 4 aired his story, he pulled his ad from Craig's List. However, a search for "Police Crown Victoria" returned seventeen other hits, so others appear to be selling the same type of vehicles.
