Deputy attends wedding and handcuffs couple as joke, but didn't bring cuff key
The symbolism went a bit too far at a local wedding reception during the weekend.
Douglas County sheriff’s officers responded Sunday evening to a call for help at a reception on 1900 Road north of Lawrence. A guest who was a law enforcement officer had handcuffed the bride and groom together as a joke but didn’t have a handcuff key, sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Kari Wempe said.
“We came and unhandcuffed the bride and groom,” Wempe said.
Wempe said she didn’t know who the officer was, but said it was someone from “outside this jurisdiction.”
“We didn’t take a report because there was no criminal act,” she said.

It's always funny when someone asks me to teach "compliant handcuffing". I always thought that was the biggest joke of the academy.
You want training on compliant handcuffing? Here it is: One wrist goes in each hole. Don't lose the key..
Looks like an officer needs some remedial training in that area.

I hope the boy ran right after he was un cuffed.
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

I have nothing worthwhile to add to this thread. I'm just here for the post count.

Please don't loose sight of how nervous one gets on that big day
Perfectly understandable, even for a "professional".
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. - Leo Buscaglia
