people forget that the military aren't the only ones risking there lives to protect there country and families. Law Enforcement personnel risk there lives everyday protecting and making the streets safe, Some soldiers are lucky to ever see battle or combat so don't know what it is really like putting your life on the line.

I wish not to take anything away from the military either, but ya damn right!!Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

The article was really well done.
Very touching story.http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Thank you, bufford, for sharing your fathers legacy with us. It's truly an honor to get to know him through his son! As I mentioned in an earlier post, sacrifice is meaningless without remembrance. I am humbled by those who are willing to put their lives on the line for the freedom of others.

Very moving article. While its hard to read articles such as those, it allows us all to realize what we as officers do on a daily basis.
RIP. SIR BUFFORD you are missed.Being the best is not what always counts. What counts is always trying your best.
Remember who you are, and where you came from. That way you never get a big head.
May those that lost their lives in 9-11 RIP, for the things you did not many could do. You left so many behind so that you could save so few. For now we stand strong as one, and will not look back till the fight is done. (me)
