Scientist discover global warming has accelerated much more than anticipated

Scientists have discovered that global warming has accelerated at approximately three times the rate they were afraid it would – and even faster than “worst case scenario” predictions, according to a British newspaper.

The Independent reported on Sunday that a series of startling studies have found that carbon dioxide emissions have risen in the current decade to three times what they were during the 1990s. The study also mentions that Arctic ice is also melting three times as fast, and the oceans are rising twice as rapidly as had been predicted.

The studies, published by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, claim that carbon emissions have increased by about 3 percent a year since 2000, compared with an approximate 1 percent rise per year during the 1990s.

The Independent reports that the new research shows that global warming is happening much faster than even in the “worst case scenario” outlined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change this year.

According to the research, approximately 75% of the world’s carbon emissions are coming from developed countries – even though developed countries only account for one-sixth of the Earth’s population. China was noted for its particularly rapid rise in carbon emissions.

News of the studies may prompt even stricter anti-pollution measures around the world. In the U.S., President Bush recently called for action to initiate anti-greenhouse gas measures. However, he has yet to agree to some international measures aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

Climate change will be a priority this week, when the annual G8 summit opens in Germany on June 6.

Said it exactly how it should be phrased. "Believer." Global Warming is not a science, it is a religion. Theres as much scientfic evidence showing man caused climate change as there is to show the existence of god. People who think Man caused Global Warming is real don't do it based on facts, the do it based on faith.

for every scientist that says global warming is mans problem there is another one waiting to say that it is a natural occurance. i know its happening and we should try to do what we can to help...however.... how do you help when nobody agrees what causes it.
