Can you read between the lines?

This is hysterical
NEW YORK, NEW YORK – According to this transcript of a phone call between a man identifying himself as a New York City police officer and the Hoboken Police Department, City Council President Christopher Campos might have gotten a break if Hoboken cops had asked for one. According to the tape, Hoboken Police Sgt. James Peck tells New York’s finest to “enforce the law” - and manages to mention that Hoboken cops have been working without a contract for two years.
Hoboken Police Sgt. Peck: Sgt. Peck, how can I help you?
NYPD P.O. Liotta: Yeah, good morning, sarge. My name is Police Officer Liotta. I’m from the New York City Highway Patrol. I got a question.
Sgt. Peck: Sure.
P.O. Liotta: Of course this is a purely hypothetical situation.
Sgt. Peck: Of course.
P.O. Liotta: Um, if a certain person identifies himself as the City Council president for the city of Hoboken, New Jersey?
Sgt. Peck: OK.
P.O. Liotta: Um, who’s name might or might not be Christopher Campos?
Sgt. Peck: Right.
P.O Liotta: Um… would it be a good or maybe a bad thing for him to become a guest of the city tonight?
Sgt. Peck: A guest of the city tonight? I would, uh… OK, I’m sorry, who am I speaking with?
P.O. Liotta: Officer Liotta.
Sgt. Peck: Officer Liotta, I would expect you to do your duty, sir. I would expect you to enforce the law.
P.O. Liotta: OK.
Sgt. Peck: Now, that’s all. I’m not, I’m not gonna tell you anything otherwise, I cannot tell you anything otherwise. I would advise you to do your job . My desk lieutenant just stepped away, I can run it by him, but, um, I’m sure he would say the same thing if you want to hold on so we can get two people telling you that.
P.O. Liotta: Uh . No, that’s fine. Your opinion . does it for me.
Sgt. Peck: In this hypothetical situation, can I, uh, what is the offense?
P.O. Liotta: Um, it might be DWI.
Sgt. Peck: Oh really? Interesting. Interesting.
P.O. Liotta: Does City Council, you know, favor you guys?
Sgt. Peck: No, no…
P.O Liotta: Um, should I enforce this thing, or…?
Sgt. Peck: Well… that’s besides the point, whether they’re good to us or whether they’re not good to us, I would expect you to - they’re not - but I would expect you to . regardless, I would expect you to do your job, but that’s besides the point.
P.O. Liotta: OK.
Sgt. Peck: That’s besides the point. We’ve been without a contract for two years. That’s besides the point. I would expect you to do your job.
P.O. Liotta: Very good sir.
Sgt. Peck: Right.
P.O. Liotta: Yeah, I think my job will be done.
Sgt. Peck: OK.Don't you just hate it when someone's balls are hidden so well, they can't seem to find it themselves ~ RSA

As if there are a heck of a lot of politicians anyone would say otherwise on.
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!

I dont see how this Sgt. is under investigation.
He didnt do anything wrong. He simply advised the trooper to do his job, which he should have done anyway without calling the Sgt.
Council Members think they own the local police departments around here.
Half of the council members have retired form awesome jobs, and then dictate what the road units make an hour, which isnt much more than min-wage. i think its bullshit.
I had somewhat similar thing happen to me when i worked for a small village.
Council voted down 3 % pay raise one year, the Chief, yeah the CHIEF brought to our attention thats its time for the "Blue Flu".
of course me being on day shifts, had to start this in order for in to take effect.
Soooo, monday morning i call off sick, and so on, so on, so on.
the next thing the "Chief" and council members are blaming me for starting it and wanting to fire me over this. Investigation under way....
thinking into the future, doctors slip paid off, i was sick.
on the 3rd day, we returned back as normal, and while on duty, i noticed a council members wife walking in the roadway, nearly getting hit by oncoming traffic.
i advised her to walk on the sidewalks as they are there for that reason.
next thing, i am picking on the council wife, investigation under way.
Screw the council members (not all of them, but some), in Ohio they have no bearing on the day to day operations of the police department. they wanted my home phone number, my address, when i worked, ect..
this is none of there business. they are joe public as far as i am concerned. they represent the community 2 times a month when they meet for a council meeting, thats it!
I hope he has to sit in the pokie for a while for this stunt.
Once again, this is my right of freedom of speech, if you dont like it, dont read this again.YEAH, IM THE BERRIES, AND CHERRIES IN YOUR REAR VIEW MIRROR.

I agree... Sgt. Peck made it clear numerous times that it didn't matter who the guy was. The rest is in the imagination of the listener, because of the awkward position that Liotta placed the Sgt in.
All he did was answer Liotta's questions, which should never have been asked, and he gave Liotta the correct guidance.
I think the NYPD P.O. Liotta did wrong though - P.O. Liotta should have never even made that call. He should have booked the guy without looking back, and left the Sgt out of it. The Sgt he called was not his supervisor, and not the arrestee's supervisor. Wrong, wrong, wrong - Just placing the call smacks of political favoritism.Last edited by TXCharlie; 06-06-07 at 07:42 AM.

How could Sgt. Peck have known that "Police officer Liotta" was even a real LEO and not random person playing a prank?
