Dallas, TX - A pregnant woman was shot and her unborn baby was killed in a shooting early Thursday morning, police said.
At approximately 2 a.m., at least two bullets struck an apartment complex near downtown Dallas.
The 22-year-old pregnant woman was sleeping in her 3rd floor bedroom when she was struck in the back by a bullet, according to police.
Her baby was killed, and the victim was undergoing surgery at a local hospital.

Schepps Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect or suspects. The reward will remain in force for six months.
Officials believe the shots came from a nearby elevated part of North Central Expressway, and that they may have been random.
Investigators say it will be difficult to figure out who fired the shots, based on the available evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to call Dallas police at (214) 671-3661.

Father Pleads For Help, Justice

DALLAS -- The father of an unborn baby that was killed by a stray bullet said he wants help finding the person responsible.
Santos Paris showed a picture of his son Ryan Christopher -- killed by a stray bullet on June 14 -- at a press conference and asked for help. The bullet struck the baby’s mother, Victoria Dexter, in the back while she was sleeping in her Deep Ellum apartment.

“One day you’re picking out a crib and picking out bottles and what kind of diapers you’re going to use and then the next day you’re picking out what color casket you’re going to bury your son in,” Paris said.
Dallas police said they are confident that the bullet came from the freeway near the apartments, but they are not sure whether or not it was intentional.
“Really don’t know anything yet,” Lt. Craig Miller said. “We’re trying to get anybody who can give us any information.”
Police said there is a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Dexter is in stable condition at a Dallas hospital.

Its the type of crime that makes our job really hard, you have to really focus on the surviving victims. And the guy/gal who fired the gun would know.
You wonder why I have my atitude to guns, in the wrong hands they can cause so much misery, yes, I know knives and cars are part of this equation of senseless death . .
