CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) - It looked like a scene out of a summer blockbuster -- paratroopers landing at a Colorado state prison. But it was no movie or a breakout attempt. Just a goof. A unit of 25 paratroopers landed in a corn field on the grounds of the Fremont Correctional Institute. A Colorado Department of Corrections spokeswoman says the GI's were armed with practice riles that shoot rubber bullets. The spokeswoman tells the Rocky Mountain News that guards escorted the paratroopers off prison grounds without incident. An investigation into the mistaken invasion is under way.

That's why we never should have let the Army have airplanes. Fly with the USAF!!!

The USAF flies the Army.

I call BS on the story though, Soldiers do not carry rubber bullets on training missions. They use MILES gear.

It was probs the Air Force that dumped them there. Those AF fly boys aren't the brightest bulbs in the chandelier

Thats because they have their own. Usually helicopter pilots.

I wondered about that, too... Why would the Army being training with rubber bullets? I could see Simunitions or similar stuff... But not "rubber bullets."

I wondered about it, too. The thing that seems most plausible to me is that they were carrying "rubber ducks," which are fake M16s/M4s similar to the red guns that cops train with. They don't fire any projectile or have any moving parts at all.

Thats what I was thinking, rubber ducks, maybe simunitions but not rubber bullets we don't use those!
