Officer 'inadvertently' shoots teenager
July 17, 2007 - A 14-year-old boy remains hospitalized after being shot by a Chicago police officer Monday evening near Prairie and 92nd on the city's South Side.
Police said the officer was responding to a call of a man with a gun. According to police, the officer saw a male fitting the suspect's description and followed him. The teen reportedly hid in some bushes and then jumped out, startling the officer.
Officials said that's when the officer 'inadvertently' shot the teen. The boy is in stable condition.
There's no word on whether police recovered a gun. The incident marks the third shooting involving Chicago police in two days." The hardest thing about disarming an armed suspect is not slipping on your own shit "

Ok, once more for the cheap seats. It's a BAD idea to startle a cop when he's looking for someone with a weapon! And since you never KNOW when that's going on, how about NOT startling the officer AT ALL!!

He didn't inadvertantly shoot the subject. He was pursuing a man with a gun, who hid, and then appeared from behind cover suddenly.
