Officer falls asleep at the wheel....
Off-Duty Officer Asleep at Wheel; Van Crashes, Explodes
Aug. 1, 2007 (KABC-TV) - An off-duty Long Beach police officer is in critical condition after he apparently fell asleep while driving.
The officer's van crashed just after midnight into a metal fence on 183rd Street in Long Beach, and then slammed into a tree.
Eyewitnesses say the van exploded immediately after it crashed, but Good Samaritans were able to drag the officer to safety.
Thankfully there were good samaritans around to get him out! Prayers for a speedy recovery, and kudos to the citizens who helped!

My thoughts and prayers are with him. He was probably working too many hours trying to provide for his family. I've seen it far too many times.

While on patrol once I fell asleep on a main road and woke up in a subdivision. I have no idea how I got there but I refuse to drive sleepy anymore.
The same night only earlier I pulled right out behind an out of town person going the wrong way on a one way. I followed him for 2 blocks before I realized the screw up. So I pulled the guy over and gave him a warning.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me
