Police Dog Recovering After Being Stabbed by Suspect July 31, 2007 (KABC-TV) - A police dog is recovering after being stabbed by a suspect.
Valor lived up to his name early Monday when he was sent in to subdue a suspect. But his handler, Officer Ken Greenleaf says Valor would never have been sent in if officers knew the man had a knife.
Valor was called off when they realized he was being stabbed.
The first check of Valor turned up no injuries, but then Greenleaf checked him again.
"I felt under his neck, stabbed twice in the neck," said Officer Ken Greenleaf of the Redondo Beach police department.
Valor was rushed to the emergency room.
Greenleaf says he's already wanting to play catch. But for now, he'll be on R&R for at least a week.
