Man in court over July 21 London bombings
A man has appeared in court charged with helping a suspect for the failed 21 July London bombings evade arrest.
Muhedin Ali, 27, of Chesterton Road, west London, is accused of assisting Hussain Osman, also 27 - one of four men charged with attempted murder.
Mr Ali, who is also charged with failing to disclose information about Mr Osman, was remanded in custody at Bow Street Magistrates Court in London.
Seventeen people have now been charged in connection with the failed attacks.
Most of those charged are accused of helping suspects to evade arrest or withholding information from police.
The charges faced by Mr Ali are:
that between 21 July and 28 July he had information which "he knew or believed might be of material assistance in securing the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of Hussain Osman in the United Kingdom" and that he failed to disclose it, contrary to Section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000.
that "without lawful authority or reasonable excuse", he assisted Hussein Osman to evade arrests "knowing or believing" that Osman had committed offences of attempted murder, conspiracy to murder and offences contrary to the Explosive Substances Act on July 21.
Mr Ali remained impassive during the three minute hearing on Saturday and was not asked to enter a plea.
He was remanded in custody until a further hearing at the Old Bailey on 10 February.
Mr Osman is charged with offences including the attempted murder of Tube passengers at Shepherd's Bush and conspiracy to murder.
Three other men face the same charges as Ethiopian-born Mr Osman, in relation to attempts to bomb three Tube trains and a bus.
They are Ibrahim Muktar Said, Yassin Hassan Omar and Ramzi Mohamed. A fifth man - Manfo Kwaku Asiedu - is charged with conspiracy to murder.
Those five are expected to stand trial in the autumn.
The failed attacks took place two weeks after four suicide bombers killed 52 passengers on the London transport network.
