EL CENTRO Border Patrol agents rescued a 14-year-old boy abandoned by smugglers in the desert for a week and two illegal immigrants who were in the trunk of a sinking car, authorities said.
The boy was found Monday in a remote canyon in the Jacumba Mountains west of Ocatillo near the U.S.-Mexican border where temperatures had topped 100 degrees. He was left there eight days earlier because leg cramps prevented him from keeping up with smugglers, according to a U.S. Border Patrol statement.
The boy was left with some food and water and got additional supplies from a second group that came by a few days later. A woman in that group contacted the boy's mother, and later told a rescuer the general location of the boy. A helicopter search of about a 25-square-mile area found the boy, who was waving a blue shirt to get attention, authorities said. He was hungry and was treated for mild dehydration.
Another rescue took place at about 10 p.m. Sunday after Border Patrol agents in Calexico tried to stop a sedan suspected of carrying illegal immigrants.
The car took off but the driver lost control and it plunged into an irrigation canal, authorities said.
The first agent on scene immediately jumped in the murky water and began pulling people out of the drifting car and helping them onto the canal bank, a Border Patrol statement said.
The agent heard screams from the trunk, which had begun to fill with water. The agent searched the half-submerged car and found the trunk release, authorities said.
Eleven people were taken into custody. The driver could be charged with smuggling immigrants, authorities said.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

I wonder how long the agents will go to prison for.
