Border Patrol agent dragged trying to halt runaway pickup

EAST COUNTY – A Border Patrol agent was dragged as he tried to jump into a driverless pickup packed with people in the bed as it headed into oncoming freeway traffic in Boulevard late Tuesday night, authorities said.
Another agent steered his vehicle into the pickup's path, stopping it with a minor collision. No one was injured, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
The incident began about 11 p.m. when agents noticed the pickup with people in the bed, under a blanket, near the Golden Acorn Casino. Before they could try to stop the driver, officials said, the pickup turned up the Interstate 8 offramp to Crestwood. The driver and front passenger jumped out, letting the truck continue westbound in eastbound lanes.
Authorities said one agent tried to jump in behind the steering wheel but was dragged until the collision with the other agent's vehicle. Seven adult Mexican citizens in the pickup bed with a child were arrested.
The front passenger, believed to have been the group's foot guide, also was arrested. After a 45-minute search by agents with a dog, Border Patrol and Marine helicopters, the driver, a Mexican citizen, was found hiding in a ravine and arrested.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

Glad it all worked out and that no-one was hurt. Seems like the driver should be charged with several counts of attempted murder!!!

I agree. The follow up article will have that ^^ and the BP agent jumping through the window charged and convicted with criminal negligence and negligent injuring.

Absoultley heroic!! No question. Didn't mean to mislead you. It's just that other BP agents are now serving prison sentences for doing their jobs too. I, and Twan I would say, were making comment toward that.

Glad to hear that it all turned out ok, it was a selfless act that he would put his life in harms way to save people he has never meet..and as others have already said, the BP has been taking a beating over simply doing their jobs...
