Nevada Sheriff's Deputy Arrests Wife for DUI

Nevada sheriff's deputy arrests a colleague on drunken-driving charge — his own wife

    The Associated Press

    Tuesday, August 14, 2007

This might make for a tense time at home.

An off-duty sheriff's deputy was pulled over and charged with driving under the influence — by her husband.
Charlotte Moore, 36, a jail deputy and 11-year veteran, was driving her 2004 Pontiac Grand Am when she was pulled over by her husband, Elko County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Moore, a police report said.
She allegedly left before being administered a portable breathalyzer test, the Elko Daily Free Press reported.
Mike Moore pulled her over again and called the Elko Police Department for backup. He left shortly after another officer arrived.
Charlotte Moore was released at 1:47 a.m. on Sunday and placed on paid administrative leave, Elko County Undersheriff Rocky Gonzalez said.
Neither Mike nor Charlotte Moore was available for comment Monday, the Elko Daily Free Press said.

Me thinks there will be a Domestic Dispute call in the near future!

We had an officer a couple of years ago who arrested his wife for harassment because she came to his extra job to bitch at him and would not leave. He later set the house on fire while she was inside.

That there fellas is a fine example of Biting the hand that feeds you!!!

I wonder if the fact that she just drove away from the first stop is the reason behind this. I mean if he was trying to help her and she just drove away, endangering lives, she kind of tied his hands. Just thinking out loud.

Either way I wouldnt want to be in that house for a long time!!!

No wonder the divorce rate among LEOs is about 60%. (Or so I've been told.) Not your average married couple.

I'd do it. Without question. Guilty is guilty, and justice is blind.

I would expect my spouse to respect her badge as much as I respect mine, and not put herself in that position.

While I wouldn't get personally involved in the actual detention, investigation, or arrest due to obvious reasons, I'd support any officer who did make the arrest without reservation. He'd be doing his job.

She works in a jail full of people who are guilty of the same offense (or even a lesser one). She's no better than they are if she commits such an offense herself.

    Law Enforcement Code of Ethics

As a Law Enforcement Officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all persons to liberty, equality and justice.

I will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others. Honest in thought and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of my department. Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty.

I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions. With no compromise for crime and with relentless prosecution of criminal, I will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting gratuities.

I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service. I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession...law enforcement.

He done his job and is above reproach he upheld the laws that he had sworn to do, if his wife was DUI she deserved to be booked end of story.

I'd have to call for backup a helluva alot quicker than he did, and i'm guessing after the taser use I'd be cut off for a while.

His hands may have been tied, or this may very well not have been the first occurrence and it took this drastic of an action to make her realize that she had a problem. And if she drove off AFTER he stopped her once, and he knew how blitzed out of her mind she was, then yeah. I'd rather arrest then go to a funeral.

+1,000!! I totally agree. Not only would I expect my spouse to not put himself in that position, but to not put me in the position either. (LOL, maybe that's why I have no spouse! Damn those standards!)
