NAACP official: Vick shouldn't be banned from NFL

The head of the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP said Wednesday that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has made mistakes but that they should not cost him his football career with the NFL.
Vick is expected to plead guilty Monday to federal conspiracy charges in an illegal dogfighting operation.
R.L. White, president of the Atlanta chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said his organization does not condone dogfighting or any other illegal activity, but he told reporters that Vick should be given a chance to redeem himself.
"In some instances, I believe Michael Vick has received more negative press than if he would've killed a human being," White said. "The way he is being persecuted, he wouldn't have been persecuted that much had he killed somebody."
White said he believes Vick cut a deal rather than roll the dice on a trial and take a chance on being found guilty, but "whatever he's done wrongly, he needs to pay for it.
White also said he didn't understand the uproar over dogfighting, when hunting deer and other animals is perfectly acceptable.

Why is the NAACP weighing in on this? Is this going to turn into a racial card? Is the next thing Vick spills out of his mouth that we are picking on him because he is black? Then he will print a book, "If I ran a dog fighting ring this is how I might have done it". He must be enamored with the OJ defense.

If he can slaughter dogs at will just because they don't perform, and do it in such a cruel and inhumane way then he is capable of the same violence on humans. Look at the statistics of abusers and how they start with animals before they move to children or adults.

So Vick is COMPLETELY innocent, and he is being set up and railroaded by the "friends"??? If there is more to know then I would assume that any media outlet would set a microphone up near a stand and let him get it off his chest. The only thing is that Vick wants nothing to do with that because the spin he put on it so far has helped him and if the true extent of things were known the uproar would get simply DEAFENING!!

+1...Because he's a SPORTS ICON! Enamored by fans who wouldn't know a real athlete if it bit them on the ass. Over paid and probably, and I mean probably under educated. (yes I know there are exceptions) All hail the "gladiator" who can carry a ball from one end of the field to the other. Big deal.

Let him return to his career after a few pitties get the chance to even the score first. Make sure you put him in the prisonyard butt naked and coated with raw meat. Make sure they are very hungry pitties too. Maybe seizures from other dog fighting rings.
