Local Deputy stabbed in leg, perp shot

Perp is in serious condition, deputy was treated and released.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.-- The Aiken County Sheriff's Office and SLED are both investigating a shooting by a deputy.
It started when officers say a man attacked deputies who were there to evict him from his mobile home. Deputy William Tucker, Sgt. Chris Chavous, and Constable Patrick Barton arrived to the Mobile Home Park at 130 Thomas Park Road, off Cherokee Road, around 3 o'clock.
Deputies say Christopher Godbee was hiding in the bedroom when they arrived. He cut Deputy Tucker across the upper left leg with a "large kitchen knife".
Deputies say Sgt. Chavous TAZERed Godbee twice, but he kept advancing, so Chavous fired and hit Godbee in the stomach.
Chavous and the constable were uninjured.
Family friends of Godbee say this all stems from Godbee's mental health.
"Anybody with a mental problem can go berzerk. I will tell anybody that. He just went berzerk and decided he wasn't going to leave," says Evelyn Waters. Waters, a long time friend of Godbee's family has known him since he was a toddler.
Waters says she feared a day like this may come because Godbee didn't want to leave. "I was almost sure when they came to make him move, when they broke the door in, that they'd have problems. In my mind I knew this. You know how you just kind of know things."
Her hunch proved to be true. Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt says two deputies arrived with the Constable to serve Godbee an eviction notice. "As deputies entered the trailer, a subject came out from under a bed and stabbed the deputy in the upper leg with a large knife."
Sheriff Hunt says that's when the second deputy hit Godbee with a TAZER, but it had no effect. "The suspect then charged the deputies again and that's when the second deputy pulled his weapon and shot the suspect." Sheriff Hunt says Godbee was struck once in the abdomen.
Deputy Tucker was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Godbee underwent surgery this afternoon at the Medical College of Georgia. He was listed in serious condition.
Upon Godbee's release from the hospital, the sheriff's office says he will be extradited to Aiken County and held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

    damn.....
    http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl

    We dallied under
    Vine maples and sapling alders
    Searched for lady slippers
    But instead
    Found blackberry riots and
    Desiccated branches

    An old skid road
    Brought ghost ferns and
    Hollows filled with
    Skunk cabbage
    While waves wrapped
    Intricate lacings of weeds
    'Round mule spinners

    His cyanotic eyes
    Were hard enough to make
    The sun turn tail and
    Tender enough to attract me
    To his world of illusion
