DENVER – Police say seven people are in custody after a police chase early Thursday morning.


Police say undercover officers were investigating a possible auto theft ring at West 50th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. Police say the suspects began chasing the undercover officers around 2 a.m. The officers then called for backup.

Police say the suspects rammed a police car at East 48th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The chase ended at East 58th Avenue and York Street in Commerce City.

Police are still looking for two more suspects who ran away. They are believed to be armed.

I-270 was shut down for a period between I-76 and Vasquez Thursday morning because of the chase. It reopened around 6:15 a.m.
