A 23-year-old man was arrested last night after cops caught him inside a Jersey City home - helping himself to a plate of chicken and rice, reports said.

Police were called to a two-family home on Virginia Avenue between West Side and Mallory avenues last night at 11:38 p.m. on a burglary-in-progress call. When they arrived, the resident in the second-floor apartment told cops someone had kicked in the front door, and she believed he was still inside the house, either in the first-floor apartment or the basement.

Cops said the door to the first-floor apartment also had been kicked in, and then found Tony Jamison, 23, of Bidwell Avenue, standing inside.
Cops said it appeared that Jamison had something "in and around his mouth."
Police then found a dish of chicken and rice in the kitchen near the sink. The woman said Jamison took the food from the refrigerator.

An astute officer noted the food stuck to Jamison's face was indeed chicken and rice.

Jamison was charged with burglary and theft.
He apparently didn't steal anything else, cops said.
The woman said she knew Jamison - he had once worked as a babysitter for her daughter, who lives in the first-floor apartment. But she said her daughter hadn't hired Jamison in months.
