So Cal is on fire.... AGAIN..

There are three separate fires burning in So Cal. in Malibu, Castaic, and Porter Ranch.

There are winds in the 65mph range...

Malibu Presbyterian Church is burning

The Malibu area is full of canyons that are burning...

We are rolling up on the anniversary of the Cedar fire here...red flag warning in effect due to dry Santa Ana conditions, and high winds....and extended drought conditions.

Here's a link to some photos from the Cedar fire...there were actually 3 fires that encircled San Diego county over the course of the weekend. The smoke was so thick it covered the sun. The ash traveled for miles, and was an inch thick on the ground.

We are up to 7 fires burning... I went to get gas and was almost blown away by a wind gust... it is scary out there!!! People are driving like idiots on the freeway too!

Chatsworth
Malibu
and Fontana all have fires burning right now...

We've got two going right now....with one person killed (civilian) and several firefighters injured.

I just got called out! I was out in the yard and didn't get the message till 1800. I am to report at 0600 for day shift platoon detail. We have 2 large fires out of control in Ramona and Potrero.

Be safe... Up here we are hovering around 9-10 fires... They are unpredictable... stay safe!!

Freakin scary outside. Winds have been blowing so hard all day and even harder right now. Upwards to 100mph.....that is freakin hurricane winds. UGH!

They're evacuating Ramona....the whole town...right now.

Potrero fire has burned approx 14000+ acres

Here are some pics from today. All of these were taken south of Lake Wohlford, just east of the Escondido City limits. I was on Recon.

These houses in the Hidden Trails area of Escondido are threatened. These homes are in the patch of the pictures below:

Incoming fire and my Department Chaplain ride-along.

Me standing on a junk pile watching the fire approach Escondido. The goggles came in handy with winds gusting to 50 MPH. Lots of dirt and debris were being kicked up!

The fire lines themselves are hard to see. They are being hidden by gobs of thick smoke.

The fire is moving out of my area now. I will try and get some more shots for later....
