Police: Good Samaritans Stop Rape In Progress

SALEM, Ore. -- Five Good Samaritans stopped a rape in progress in a south Salem neighborhood, according to police.
Officers said a 22-year-old woman on crutches was walking near the intersection of Liberty and Boone streets southeast just before 1 a.m. Saturday when she was attacked and assaulted by 37-year-old Paul Landingham.
According to authorities, a car with five people was driving by, saw what was happening and came to the woman's rescue.
Three men pulled Landingham off the woman and held him until police arrived at the scene.
The victim was transported to an area hospital.
Landingham was taken into custody on first-degree rape charges.

Call me angry, violent, bloodthirsty or what have you; but I yearn for the days when shit like this happened, you could just throw a beating into someone and it not even be noticed by the public.
Around this part of town, those Good Samaritans at the minimum would had their asses villified by the press and the "PIO" of our PD here in town.
They deserve a fucking medal and some "Get Out Of Speeding Ticket" coupons.

every time i come across this thread, i have to click it just to see the guy's face.
the only thing i wish they would have done differently is kicked him in the head enough to cause some permanent damage...and a lifetime of pain.
