"Dog" Chapman apologizes for profanity laced tirade, where he used the "N-word" six times
HONOLULU - Television bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman apologized Wednesday for repeatedly using a racial slur in a profanity-laced tirade during a private phone conversation with his son that was recorded and posted online.
Chapman, star of A&E's hit reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," responded after The National Enquirer posted a clip of the conversation in which Chapman uses the N-word in reference to his son's girlfriend.
A&E officials did not immediately return phone messages seeking comment from The Associated Press. Chapman issued a statement apologizing for the comments.
The recording was first posted online by the Enquirer. It was unclear who recorded the conversation or how the tabloid obtained the 1 1/2-minute clip in which Chapman uses the N-word six times. A woman at the Enquirer said no one would be available to comment after hours.
In the conversation, Chapman urges his son to break up with his girlfriend. He also expresses concern about the girlfriend going public about the TV star's use of the N-word.
In the clip, Chapman also stated he doesn't care that his son's girlfriend is black.
In a statement, the 54-year-old Chapman said he has "utmost respect and aloha for black people who have suffered so much due to racial discrimination and acts of hatred.
"I did not mean to add yet another slap in the face to an entire race of people who have brought so many gifts to this world," he said. "I am ashamed of myself and I pledge to do whatever I can to repair this damage I have caused."
Chapman said, "My sincerest, heartfelt apologies go out to every person I have offended for my regrettable use of very inappropriate language. I am deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private phone conversation."
Chapman said the clip was completely taken out of context.
"I was disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character," he said. "However, I should have never used that term."
Chapman said he is meeting with his spiritual adviser, Rev. Tim Storey, who is black, and hopes to meet with other black leaders, "so they can see who I really am and teach me the right thing to do to make things right, again."
"I know that all of my fans are deeply disappointed in me, as well, as I have tried to be a model for doing the right thing," he said. "I did not do the right thing this time, and hope you will forgive me."
The Honolulu-based bounty hunter first grabbed headlines for apprehending serial rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico in 2003.

And, Chapman's conduct surprises anybody, WHY? His is a POS who has made millions living off of other people's misery. Yep, A&E signed him up for another season. He calls himself a reformed Christian, prays just before each episode and then conducts himself in a holier than thou attitude. He is a egomaniacal "POS!!" He does not possess the Aloha of Hawai'i. He is a degenerate with no class.Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.

That word will not exist in my vocablulary. That type of attitude is a big part of the problem in society today.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me

Well hot damn. Couldn't figure out why A&E would carry that show anyhow, as it was neither 'Arts' nor 'Entertainment'.

Dog was pretty much an annoying pain in the ass in my book. It's the double standard that this incident highlights that really speaks volumes about how screwed up this country is.
I think the next black star to publicly call a while person "cracker" or "Whitey" or any form of racial slur for a minority should be drawn and quartered career-wise like Chapman and Imus. There is NO difference between the "crimes' other than the color of the criminals skin.
Only then is there going to be any real progress for the racial divisions and strife in the country. Either everybody puts on their big boy and big girl pants and sucks it up, or everyone gets treated the same. THAT is equal opportunity.

He just picked the wrong race. You have to know which one is safe to slur.

Looks like Denver-born bounty hunter Duane Dog Chapman is in deep doo-doo after the National Enquirer obtained a racist rant the reality star unleashed against his son, Tucker, who is dating an African-American woman.
In a vicious voicemail, Chapman's tirade is liberally laced with the "N" word along with expletive deleteds not fit to print in this newspaper. In the rants (the Enquirer says it has obtained two undated tapes), Chapman berates his son for his relationship with Monique Shinnery out of concern that Shinnery, who is black, will set him up because of the language the Dog uses.
In a story posted on TMZ.com Wednesday, part of the eight-minute tape demands that Tucker break up with Shinnery or be fired from the family bail bondsmen biz. Chapman, who spends most of his time in his Hawaii home, maintains a bail bonds business in Denver.
When TMZ.com asked Chapman for comment, the Web site was referred to Chapman's pastor Tim Storey, an African-American.
"(Storey) told (TMZ) that he spoke with Dog, who cried for 30 minutes, saying 'I'm shocked, I'm wrong, I repent. Can you believe, Tim, that I'm going to be put in the same category as (Don) Imus.'"
Storey also told TMZ, "I was shocked, because I don't know that to be Duane. I felt that he had to be accountable to what he said. When I asked him what took place, why he said it, he said that he was angry with his son about many things." That explanation was not good enough for A&E, the cable network that airs his show, Dog The Bounty Hunter, to let its reality star out of the dog house. A&E issued a statement to TMZ saying that it has stopped production on the series, pending an investigation.

Notice that he's not sorry he did it, only that he's sorry that he got caught.
