LA Detective catches Deputy Impersonator..
Los Angeles Detectives Catch Officer Impersonators in Act
Updated: November 8th, 2007 10:26 AM EDT
LOS ANGELES --
A couple accused of posing as sheriff's deputies to rob undocumented
immigrants, seniors and schoolchildren were arrested after real
detectives spotted them trying to shake down a boy, authorities said
Steve Leo, 34, and Sabrina John, 32, would dress in green clothing
resembling sheriff's uniforms and approach people in Los Angeles and
Orange counties, officials said.
The two would then identify themselves as deputies, order the victims
to submit to a patdown and then steal their money and wallets,
officials said. After telling the victims to walk away, Leo and John
would flee in a black sedan.
Authorities said the Reseda couple, who told police they were married
with one child, may have robbed more than 20 people. Officials have
asked victims to contact authorities.
Randolph Wayne Wright, an attorney set to represent John, said he had
no comment. It was not clear whether Leo had an attorney.
The pair were arrested on Oct. 24 after several vice detectives
spotted them trying to shake down a teenage boy. What tipped off the
detectives, according to Los Angeles police Lt. Jim Grayson, was the
way the two searched the teen.
As Leo patted him down, John sat in the couple's black Hyundai sedan
eating food. Normally, both officers would be outside during a search.
"You wouldn't have one partner sitting in the car eating food,"
Grayson said. "That just isn't normal procedure. It looked kind of weird."
When the detective approached them, the couple fled. They eventually
stopped after a police cruiser joined the pursuit.
By then, authorities said, the suspects were shedding the evidence --
"The guy was trying to take off his shirt," Grayson said.
Other fake uniforms were later found in the couple's home, Grayson said.
Larry Marx, the couple's brother-in-law, said that he believed the two
were innocent and that they had told him they were going to a costume
party as police officers.
Each is being held on $500,000 bail and faces three counts of robbery
and two counts of attempted robbery.
Other possible victims were urged to call the sheriff's department at
(562) 946-7136. Spanish-speaking investigators will be available to
handle complaints, authorities said.

We see a lot of this kind of stuff. Two caught in the Seattle area just this week.
Maclean once interrupted what was probably going to be a rape by some asshole posing as a police officer. He saw the stop and realized that it wasn't right. He circled back and joined the stop. The butthead was quite suprised when maclean produced a REAL badge and called SPD for backup.
Car 4I would like my country back. I used to believe that one man could never destroy this country. Not so sure anymore!

I guess Maclean really knows how to ruin a party. Good Job.
