Irving, TX: Police Arrest Protest Leader Who Was Protesting Police Policy of Reporting Illegal Aliens to ICE
POSTED: 7:23 am CST November 16, 2007
UPDATED: 8:00 am CST November 16, 2007
IRVING, Texas -- A Latino protest leader was arrested just before a rally Thursday morning.
Carlos Quintanilla was preparing to lead a protest against the city of Irving when police arrested him. Police said he had seven outstanding warrants from Dallas and Farmers Branch.

Police said they discovered the warrants – for traffic and trespassing violations -- when Quintanilla applied for a permit for the protest March. They said they advised him to take care of the warrants before coming to the city.
Friends of Quintanilla said he knew he would be arrested, but came to the rally anyway.
Quintanilla bonded out of the Irving jail Thursday night.
