Lottery winner wasn't supposed to gamble
Lottery winner wasn't supposed to gamble

The winner of a $1 million lottery scratch ticket may not be so lucky after all: He's a convicted bank robber who isn't supposed to gamble. Timothy Elliott faces a Dec. 7 court hearing over whether he violated his probation when he bought the $10 ticket for the $800 Million Spectacular game at a supermarket in Hyannis.
Elliott was placed on five years' probation after pleading guilty in October 2006 to unarmed robbery for a January 2006 heist at a bank on Cape Cod. Under terms of his probation, he "may not gamble, purchase lottery tickets or visit an establishment where gaming is conducted, including restaurants where Keno may be played."
Elliott, 55, has collected the first of 20 annual $50,000 checks from the Massachusetts lottery commission. A picture of Elliott, holding his first check, was posted on the lottery's Web site Monday, though it was removed by Wednesday.
As part of his sentence, Elliott was put under the care of the state Mental Health Department and sent to a hospital for treatment, and state officials refused Wednesday to say whether he was still being treated.
A telephone number for Elliott could not immediately be located Wednesday, and it was not clear whether he had a lawyer.
The lottery routinely cross references the names of winners with the state Revenue Department to see if they owe back taxes or child support, lottery spokesman Dan Rosenfeld said. In those cases, winnings go straight to the Revenue Department.
But in this case, it will be up to the court to determine what will happen with Elliott's winnings.
"This is kind of new territory," he said

Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

I doubt he'd have any family member that wouldn't screw him over in a heartbeat.

I say give it to a "victims of violent crimes" group in the area where he committed the robbery.

considering it was unarmed robbery and he served his time for the offense, id say give it to him. taking it away and putting him in jail for any amount of time is only going to cause him to commit an even more violent crime when he gets out. Is a million dollars worth this man taking someones life?
Atleast with the million, he can get his life straigthened out. The court should require him to attend a financial management class and require that 30%+ of the funds be directed towards charity or investment.

Nah, it was laid out as a condition of his parole. Couldn't be any more concrete than that. If someone drinks one beer under a no drinking clause, it's still a violation. My opinion, don't stick him back in prison, extend the parole, order some be given as restitution for his crime if not yet paid, some to handle the court costs, and the rest goes to a Victim's of Crime organization. Leaving him with maybe just enough to buy a cup of coffee."Like" us on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Offic...93147194083228

I wish you had rep points so I can take it away from you.
What part of "may not gamble, purchase lottery tickets or visit an establishment where gaming is conducted, including restaurants where Keno may be played."
is so tough to understand? He agreed to abide by that so he could get out of prison, for COMMITTING A FELONY, early. Yet he still goes and does it anyways.
Well fuck him. That's what I say. Fuck him for being a convict and fuck him for being a space-wasting polesmoking dipshit. Fuck him right in the goat ass is what I say.

Well "rookie" is just the first title it gives you when you register. He hasn't verified yet, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say not a cop. Though I aren't either, I sure as hell wouldn't let the guy slide unless he had something very very juicy for me.
