East Point officer shoots, kills man

The Georgia Bureau Investigation on Sunday was investigating the killing of a man by an East Point police officer.
Police say that two officers were checking on a disturbance Saturday on Winburn Terrace when a man started to fight with one officer and got him in a chokehold, GBI spokesman John Bankhead said.

The officer's partner ordered the man to release the officer. When the man tried to get at the officer's gun, the partner opened fired, Bankhead said.
"Basically it was a guy at a neighbor's house who was acting up, and police responded," Bankhead said. "Apparently he was struggling with the gun, and the other officer shot him."
Bankhead said the GBI is conducting a routine investigation at the request of the East Point Police Department. Attempts to reach East Point police for comment Sunday were unsuccessful.dlefdal said:

I hope the officers are uninjured. Sounds like this could have had a drastic outcome.
Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.
