    Two officers shot

    GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5) –- Gwinnett County police officers made contact with a suspect Friday morning, who police say barricaded himself inside a home after he shot two veteran officers. The SWAT standoff has been going on throughout the night on White Cedar Terrace.

    Gwinnett County school officials also closed Riverside Elementary Friday for safety concerns since it's within one mile of the house involving the SWAT situation.

    Two Gwinnett County police officers were still in the hospital Friday.


    Investigators said the officers were serving a search warrant when someone opened fire and struck them both.

    One officer was struck in the leg and the second officer was hit in the back, abdomen, shoulder and arm.

    The suspect was barricaded in the home and police swarmed the scene.

    The Gwinnett County SWAT team had the home surrounded and was trying to coax the suspect out Thursday night.

    Both officers were taken to Gwinnett County Medical Center and reported in stable condition. One officer was being evaluated Thursday night and the second officer was undergoing surgery
