Local Reporter Goes to Pursuit Driving Class
I went to this same school back in February of 2005. They must have changed the layout of the Emergency Operations course, because the instructor was telling her that she could have finished in 55 seconds or so. When we did it, it was almost like a NASCAR road course and I had the fastest time of 1:53 (which includes my 5 second penalty from when I clipped a cone after I got my squad sideways). Average times with my class were around 2:15-2:25.
The first 3/4 of this video shows them driving around and doing various braking exercises. The final 1/4 is the road course. Of course, she didn't have to operate the lights and siren on her own while driving, watch out for other traffic, or use the radio and laptop (like you would in real life).
Her math is also pretty terrible. Pay attention to the braking distances from the first part of the video
Poor cameraman was being tossed around the backseat like a ragdoll.

Looks like the raw video clip is at the bottom of the page. The video window on the original page takes you to the actual broadcast story.
