Fort Worth man dies after accidentally shooting himself

FORT WORTH - A 23-year-old man who apparently mishandled a weapon died early Friday after accidentally shooting himself, police said.
The medical examiner’s office identified the man as Vernon Scott of Fort Worth.
Mr. Scott was visiting friends around 10 p.m. at the Ladera Palms apartments in the 4500 block of Campus Drive, said Fort Worth Police Lt. Paul Henderson.
Mr. Scott, who was shot in the face, was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital where he later died.
No arrests have been made, police said.

500 fights, that's the number I figured when I was a kid. 500 street fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate tough guy. You need them for experience. To develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then, after, you realize that's what you are.
