SBS Get Top Taliban man in Afghanistan
Top work by the Royal Marines.
A TALIBAN chief behind suicide attacks on British troops has been shot dead in a daring operation by elite forces in Afghanistan.
The Special Boat Service ambushed Mullah Abdul Matin as he crossed a desert on a motorbike.
They were dropped into his path by helicopter after a tip-off on his whereabouts. Matin spotted them and opened fire with an AK47 rifle but he was cut down in a hail of bullets.
Two henchmen with him – one his key lieutenant Mullah Karim Agha – were also killed in the firefight.
Matin, who was in his 40s, was killed on Monday near Gereshk in war-torn Helmand province.
Troops recovered night vision goggles, grenades and a detonator.

The SBS is sort of like our SEALS - except they come from the Royal Marines if I recall correctly.
They do get around, even away from the water.I'm your huckleberry...

Good job!

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

Their entry requirements including being a trained Royal Marines commando.
The SBS being part of the Silent service (RN) don't feel the need to disclose details of their missions like some of the other special forces formations. Much of their work has previously been credited to the SAS, Parachute regiment or the Royal Marines, In much the same way as all US special forces work is credited to DELTA or SEALs despite there being other equally capable but less media exposed units in existance."all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" Edmund Burke.

Silent?? You've not been out on the lash with them when they decide to play Rodeo then! Gets very noisey (and quite violent) very quickly. Got thrown out of more pubs in one night, than in my whole life, before or since, on my course with them. Whereas I never got thrown out of any pubs ,while on my courses with the other Mob.

I can understand the appeal for the work, but in my mind those that train to do it in the water have earned the right to a little bravado in their off time.
