"In a highly unusual agreement, prosecutors allowed Pannell, 58, to plead guilty to aggravated battery -- while dropping a more serious charge of attempted murder -- in exchange for 30 days in jail and two years of probation."
30 days in jail for shooting a cop.

Unless there was going to be SERIOUS problems getting a conviction, this is a travesty. I hope Knox goes civil and reduces this turd to nothing.

This is why I can't handle prosecution. Too much wheeling and dealing. I can't imagine why they would think a deal like this is okay when the officer who was shot almost lost an arm because of it. Ridiculous.

as angry as i am about this
it just doesn't surprise me one bithttp://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion
