Cops: Mom threw self, kids off overpass
Cops: Mom threw self, kids off overpass
By JEFF CARLTON and SCHUYLER DIXON, Associated Press Writer
A woman threw her two struggling young children from a freeway overpass during Wednesday's morning rush before leaping off herself, police said, but all three survived the 22-foot fall into traffic.
Khandi Busby, 27, and her sons, ages 8 and 6, were hospitalized in stable condition, said police Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse. They are well enough to speak with investigators, police said.
All three landed on concrete in the far left lane of westbound Interstate 30 at about 6:30 a.m.
"It was really miraculous that we didn't have some fatalities with this incident," said police Sgt. Gil Cerda. "At this particular time, there is very heavy traffic and it is fast moving."
Police believe Busby and the 8-year-old were struck by cars. There were no car accidents on the interstate below, Cerda said.
Busby could face two charges of attempted capital murder, Cerda said.
Janse said Busby and her sons were in a car with her father, heading to a friend's house. When they stopped for gas, she took the boys to the overpass while her father was paying for the fuel, Janse said.
"She was not fleeing for her safety," Cerda said. "She just threw them over and decided to throw herself over."
Her father had to make a U-turn to follow her in the car and by the time he reached the scene Busby "had picked up the kids and thrown herself over," Cerda said.
"The why remains a mystery to us," police Lt. C.L. Williams said. "If you try to apply logic to these incidents, they totally defy any logical explanation."
Child Protective Services had intervened with Busby at least twice but for incidents that "were relatively minor in nature," Williams said.
Busby has a criminal record, including convictions for assault and criminal trespass of a habitation.

yeah, I'll say...
but thank god she has a prior record so she can't say she has prior mental issues and get into a mental home instead of jail. She needs to freakin' fry.http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

I think the mom needs a do-over. Maybe a couple of them actually. Sick bitch. An ass kicking then the do-over would be even better.

DALLAS -- Police said a woman threw her two children off the North Jim Miller Bridge onto westbound Interstate 30 and then jumped Wednesday morning.

Ambulances took Gary Ford, 8, and Derrick Tennison, 6, to Children's Medical Center in Dallas and Khandi Busby, 27, to Baylor University Medical Center shortly after their falls at about 6:30 a.m.
Police said Busby was headed to a friend's home with her parents and stopped for gas when an argument broke out and, while her father was paying for gas, she walked over to the bridge and threw the children onto the interstate before jumping, Lt. C.L. Williams said in a Wednesday morning news conference.
Her father had to make a U-turn to follow her in the car, but by the time he drove up Busby "had picked up the kids and thrown herself over," Dallas police spokesman Sgt. Gil Cerda said.
"She was not fleeing for her safety," Cerda said. "She just threw them over and decided to throw herself over."
Both children are in serious condition, but their injuries are not expected to be life threatening. Busby is in stable condition after the 22-foot fall onto the far left lane of westbound I-30.
Initial reports indicated that Busby and Gary were hit by cars, but it was not determined that anyone was hit by passing vehicles, Williams said.
Witnesses said the children were trying to fight being thrown off the bridge.
"It was really miraculous that we didn't have some fatalities with this incident," Cerda said. "At this particular time, there is very heavy traffic and it is fast moving."
"I don't really have an explanation" for how the three survived, police spokesman Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse said.
A cousin said he is at a loss to explain why it happened.
There were no traffic accidents as a result of the incident, Williams said.
Police are considering two charges of attempted capital murder against Busby, Williams said.
Child Protective Services had intervened with Busby on at least two occasions for incidents that "were relatively minor in nature," Williams said.
Busby has a criminal record, including convictions for assault and criminal trespass of a habitation.
