Naked stabbing suspect shot by police, witness doesn't understand why police shot her
CAMDEN, N.J. - A naked stabbing suspect got into a struggle with a female police officer Monday, leading a second officer to open fire and kill the suspect. The female officer was shot and seriously wounded.
Authorities were investigating whether she was shot by the other officer, or by the suspect, who may have grabbed her gun.
Police were called to South Camden neighborhood after reports that a man had stabbed someone. The suspect was identified as Lamont Morton, 19.
When police arrived, they found Morton naked, knocking on the door of a house in the neighborhood, said Camden County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Jason Laughlin.
Morton and the female officer got into a physical altercation, and then the second officer on the scene shot Morton several times, killing him, Laughlin said.
"There was a struggle that involved a gun," he said.
Laughlin said it is not known whether the female officer, a 15-year veteran of the force whose name is not being released, was shot by her fellow officer in a friendly fire incident or whether Morton managed to obtain her gun and shoot her.
The officer was taken to Cooper University Hospital with several wounds and was listed in serious condition, Laughlin said.
Brigette Edwards said she was driving her 11-year-old daughter and a friend to school when she saw the naked man on top of the police officer, pinning her to the street.
Then, she said, another officer fired his gun about a half-dozen times. Edwards said the officer did not give a warning.
Edwards said she didn't understand why police had to shoot Morton - especially so many times.
"My heart is just bleeding," she said as she watched crime scene investigators work. "I hope my daughter can sleep properly tonight."
Edwards said she knows Morton's aunt, in whose home the initial stabbing occurred. Neither she nor Laughlin, though, knew where Morton had been living.
The stabbing victim was at the same hospital as the officer, Laughlin said, and was expected to survive.

Bad idea Mr suspect....... The next quote is why.
That's why it was a very bad idea....
How about refer back to to the first quote listed above Mrs. Moron, I mean Mrs Edwards.
She can, because some drugged out psycho that would attack ANYONE if they can attack a uniformed police officer is off the streets.
My prayers to the two officers involved. A job well done it seems to me. One less violent thug off the streets. Prayers for a quick recovery to the injured officer.........................

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Let me say this plainly........NAKED SUSPECTS ARE PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS "SUSPECTS" POLICE CAN DEAL WITH. If someone is interacting with society while naked they are probably crazy. Crazy = dangerous to everyone not just the Police.

Prayers to the Officers,
Shame that officers are always looked down upon. Now you put little mrs. witness on her back with a nutbag on top of her, guess what, she is going to want you to shoot nutbag until they roll off. Also, while driving, you have to pay attention to the road, so is she sure she saw everything??????????????? probably not! not to mention she had her kid in the car, I can drive anywhere with out junior doing something for me to divert my attention to him. She is only seeing what she wants to see and giving only small details

Family members said Lamont Morton was hooked on angel dust, or marijuana laced with embalming fluid or other pharmaceutical substances.http://cbs3.com/local/officer.ramoni....2.680654.html"He had been struggling with a PCP, embalming-fluid addiction," Kee said. "When he was in his right mind, he was a well-mannered, very respectful kid. He just graduated last year from Camden High."
Some good news. Geez, shot four times and in stable condition so soon. What a trooper! The 15-year police veteran was rushed to Cooper Trauma in serious condition after the shooting. She is currently listed in stable condition.
By the way. Anyone ever play Shadowrun for SNES? Points for anyone who can state why I asked.
