Family's Home Ransacked After Craigslist Hoax
Family falls victim to online hoax

JACKSONVILLE, Ore. -- On Saturday, an owner arrived on his property to discover dozens of people rummaging through his families' belongings. The family had fallen victim to an online hoax through the Craigslist website.
On Saturday morning, someone posted two false notices on the website stating the family had moved away and hundreds of their items were being given away for free. Items sitting inside a barn and two yerts were taken including baby supplies, tools, furniture, appliances, and the family's horse.
According to police, owner Robert Salisbury was preparing the property to be rented. Several items have been brought back, but police say there are many more items unaccounted for. Since Saturday, the postings have been taken down and police have posted a notice informing people of the hoax. The horse has also been returned.
"People need to return the property, if they don't we will make them part of the theft case," says Richard Fogarty of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
At this time items can be returned with no questions asked.Molly Weasley makes Chuck Norris eat his vegetables.

That's the second time the exact same stunt has been pulled on craiglist in the Northwest.
