Army officer charged for attempted kidnapping at MSP
A military leader sits in Hennepin County Jail under $1 million bond Wednesday for an alleged murder plot uncovered at the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport.
Tim Pentaleri, 42, of Belleville, Illinois, was arrested June 30 after he showed up at the airport in a disguise.
According to the criminal complaint, Pentaleri was standing around a baggage carousel as if he was looking for someone.
A community service officer noticed him because he was wearing a heavy jacket, wig, fake mustache and beard.
Airport Police questioned and searched him. They found a stun gun, three cans of mace, a folding pocketknife, and a baton.
Police said hours later, they searched his vehicle and found a duffle bag, duct tape, a shovel, flex cuffs, turkey baster, and condoms among many other suspicious items. They also discovered a flowchart outing a plan to stun, mace and club someone.
Pentaleri was charged with attempted kidnapping and stalking. Police said the intended victim told them she had broken off a relationship with him in April.
