Predicted Famine
If you see that this is even remotely possible, you may wish to get
yourself prepared ahead of time. I have already started.
Arkansas and at least 5 others states in that area of the country have
had their winter wheat affected by all the flooding, and they are
still getting rained on. I wonder how long it will take for wheat
prices to go through the roof.
In the horse-raising states, some people are giving their horses away,
just leaving them to fend for themselves, or watching them slowly
starve to death because hay costs too much. How long before the beef
industry is affected?
Add these to the list of reasons why America is running out of food and
tell me there's no reason to prepare for your loved ones. Don't count
on the American government bailing us out, look what happened after
Katrina.

Umm, yea.
How about an intro thread before you come in with a bunch of gloom and doom? Makes people wonder what your agenda really is.

Wow, nice alarmist post for your first ever on the forums.
How about going to Introduce Yourself and saying Hi?

HOLY CRAP!!!!! Maybe we'll have to start importing wheat from Ethiopia! (The sky is falling, the sky is falling!)
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

MasonD,
It is truly great that you have decided to visit our web community, we are always glad to have new folks drop in and visit. Some actually come and stay a while, becoming contributing and supporting members here, but I must admit that most of those who do stay do not come here to push an agenda of their own, but to network and interact with other law enforcement officers (and supporters of the profession).
Thus far, you have posted three times, one a 'thank you' to a member who welcomed you, and the two others have been in the context of alarm over the impending doom you see this country facing.
Sir, I believe we as professional law enforcement officers are far from blinded to the ills of our society. In fact, we see perhaps more 'societal ills' than any other single occupation in America. Many of us commonly remark of the gluttony and selfish nature of many of the people whom we deal with. That's our right, honestly, because we are faced daily with such individuals, and, faithful to our oath, we serve them in the best means possible, knowing that nothing we are empowered to do will ever be enough for some of them.
We do not, however, force our beliefs and values upon others, for that is simply not what we are charged to do. We may plant a seed of decency in a barren wasteland of desparity, yet it is done carefully and in the spirit of our care for the people we serve. Toy drives, school functions, religious, civic, and fraternal organization activities, benefits for less fortunate members of our society all fall well within our interests, because we are indeed interested in the improvement of our community and the welfare of its citizens.
All that said, I, like many who I am sure agree with me, do not espouse a specific social 'agenda' in my professional life. I have learned that there are many in my community who stand on the street corners and proclaim that the end is near. In my ever-so-humble opinion, it very well might be, however it isn't my job to proclaim it, only to serve my God, my Country, and my community to the best of my abilities until such time as the curtain closes... whenever that may happen. My personal faith is just that, my personal faith. It is available on a one-to-one basis for anyone who will, on a personal level, lead me to share it with them. My outward life is one that I strive to live as example, but not one of mass evangelism, because to do so unsolicited honestly tends to alienate and create immediate suspicion, just as your posts have here.
You haven't offended anyone here, but you have raised eyebrows, certainly. If that was your intention, congratulations, job well done.
I will warn you though, now that you have had the opportunity to make your presence known here, we aren't here for agenda-mongering, faith-building, prayer-meeting, or spiritual flaggelation. We are here because we are cops, we enjoy one another's company, and we like to discuss the job with one another as a relief valve for the many stresses and idiocies that we commonly encounter in the course of our professional, and even personal lives.
If you wish to become a member 'in good standing' among the O/R forums, drop the agenda and be a member. Otherwise, I'll be forced to restrict your ability to play conspiracy-theorist and shadow warrior. We honestly get enough of it on the job... we don't need it here.
Oh, and as said before in another thread: Since you have claimed to be a Law Enforcement Officer, please submit your information for verification as directed in the site's Terms of Service.
Thanks much.

I'll take the post seriously in my reply: We won't have a famine. We export so much food, and we probably still subsidize farmers to not grow. Worst case scenario, we go back to a very basic diet, and complain about 'back in the day, when we could get beef in any store for dirt cheap.'
Maybe that would help tackle the obesity problem in America

By the way, we grow wheat in other states too. Perhaps they could share. I would hate to see people resort to eating animals. (LMAO with a belly full of steak.)
