of course animal rights groups are up in arms over this but as always we're dammed if we do dammed if we don't." The hardest thing about disarming an armed suspect is not slipping on your own shit "

i was amazed it was right behind the officer in one shot i saw...
can imagine the "where were the police" comments if it ever attacked anyone!!!!http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Did anyone ever figure out where it came from?

In the last few months our DNR has confirmed spottings of cougar and cougar tracks in Rock County, just south of us and North of Illinois border.

The poor baby. Lost and confused, no way out.. I agree with what steps were taken, but I regret that they were necessary.

I don't know about other places but here a tranq gun is almost impossible to get your hands on. We have had a couple of instances where we tried to get one but it would take a long time to get it to the scene and in the hands of a competent person who can properly calculate dosage and obtain the correct drug. It also takes quite a while for most of that stuff to work, partially because it is administered intramuscular. A dangerous animal can do a lot of damage in a short period of time. They made the right choice given the situation. Probably the only option.

I understand what you are saying....I only suggested as an option if available. We have them in the county (somewhere????) but I have only heard of it used once...on a monkey at Burger King (long story). Now see..this might be a job for me...good shot and a degree in veterinary nursing. I can calculate drug and shoot.

It has been my experience that most wild animals die after being tranqed any way. We have darted a couple of moose and a deer here and they have done some cats in Washington ,close to me, and all died. The vets said it had to do with the animal being overstressed from being gawked at. When we have a moose in town, which is quite often, we get the Frankenstien mentality happening. Everyone wants to chase it with a stick to make it go away!. Hello people! we moved into thier house, not the other way around!
As for the cat, we have permission from fish and game to shoot on sight if in town.Any day above ground is a fine day indeed!
Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
