Woman In Stolen Car Asks Police For Gas

WHEATLAND TOWNSHIP, Ill. -- And you think the price of gas is criminal!

On Sunday, a Will County deputy was called to assist a motorist who ran out of gas on Royal Worlington Drive.
Spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said the officer took Andrea M. Cole to a gas station and brought her back to fuel in the 1998 Toyota Camry.
"He checked the license plate and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Aurora Police Department," she said. "When the deputy asked to see her license, she gets upset. There was a struggle and she was able to get back in [the Camry] and drive away."
The deputy called for backup and pursued Cole on Illinois 59, Hoffmeyer said.
"The slow-speed chase came to an end near 127th Street when she ran out of gas again," Hoffmeyer said.
Cole, 43, of 1045 Alder Lane in Naperville, was arrested and booked into the county jail on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving on a revoked or suspended license and attempting to elude police. Reports indicate Cole was also wanted on numerous outstanding warrants.
