    Body found in plane restroom

Delta flight attendants found the body of a 61-year-old woman in the restroom of a plane that landed in Atlanta early Wednesday morning, a spokeswoman for the company said.

The crew noticed the restroom was occupied on final approach, spokeswoman Keyra Johnson said. Flight 950 from Los Angeles landed at 5:51 a.m., and Delta officials have not said how long the woman may have been in the restroom.

Atlanta police were notified and met the plane at the gate, Johnson said.

The body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in suburban Atlanta for an autopsy later Wednesday, said GBI spokesman John Bankhead. Authorities were awaiting the results to determine the cause of death, Bankhead said.

Authorities have not released the woman's name.

Atlanta police stationed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport respond to calls about dead bodies on airplanes a couple of times a year, police spokesman Officer Eric Schwartz said.

Probably had a heart attack caused by excessive straining. Happens all the time. I bet the airline tries to charge the lady's family because she occupied two seats during the flight.

I had one of those DOA's once. If you strain too hard you'll pinch some nerve and stop your heart. The guy got what he wanted in the end though, he explosively defecated all over.

This reminds me about the Greyhound bus that pulled in here a couple years ago. This old guy says his wife never got off the bus. She's nowhere there. Thinking he was nuts and got on without her, other passengers were asked and they confirmed they saw him with a woman. One passenger remembered seeing her walk to the bathroom but never come back. The bathroom was empty but the emergency window wasn't shut. Turns out State Police are working a fatality with a body in the road along the bus' route. The theory is she opened the window to smoke and while leaning out puffing, a bump sent her out of the bus.
