Police test Tasers in Australia. WTH???
All the taser videos that I have seen, the individuals being tased, were standing up. Whats with the lying on your stomach bit, to lessen impact with the ground? Secondly, the gun on the mat, is that bait to simulate a criminal crawling for a gun?
I want to call the officers wimps and stand up and take it like a man
, but since I have never been tased, I don't think I am worthy of that comment.

Yeah, probably get to around Occ Health and Safety issues about face planting when hit with probes. Pretty soft anyway, the probes were only a foot or so apart, hence, the member being able to crawl toward the handgun.
Stick one one shoulder and one on the ankle like my mates did to me (bastards..
).
As Queensland is the one of the few states to be issued general duty tasers, it'll be interesting to see what happens. The feel I get is that most members dont understand how they work and that whislt very effective, the sidearm is still the primary weapon system..when SHTF in a major way, I wouldn't rely on a Taser to win the day for me."Contrary to popular belief, you will not rise to the occasion, but will fall to the level of your training"

I think there is a lot of liability and workers comp that departments are trying to avoid.
A sheriff's department near us was doing a class and had the news in for it and one of their guys took a digger and split his head open. Looked real good on T.V.
If you have a good instructor and you have spotters in place and do what they are supposed to, you shouldnt have a problem with them standing.Somebody Please, what the hell is that smell?

The views, opinions, stupid off the cuff comments, mouthy, obnoxious, thoughtless, etc etc etc are not always or even some of the time the belief of my department, so bugger off!

Friend of mine here had to lay down for it. Top probe went into his back, other dropped and he took it in his buttcheek. The guy who fired it miscalculated how far the 'bottom' probe would drop on a prone target. Either that or it was just more fun to hit him in the ass.

I'm sure it's a liability and safety issue. I was standing when I took a hit and I had an officer on each side ready to catch me. I didn't go down, but it froze every muscle in my body and hurt beyond description! I have seen others go down very violently, and I'm sure if I'd have been moving when I was hit, I'd have gone down faster than Rosie O'Donnell trying to catch a loose M&M.

No sense getting hurt by falling. The training is to feel the effects of the taser. When we got hit we had officers on both sides holding us from falling on our faces.

Thats the correct way to complete the training, i.e. spotters on all sides to prevent injuries. Our department does the probe in shoulder and the other on foot.......what a ride..........lol
