Poop protests barred during Democratic convention in Denver

The Denver City Council has passed an ordinance barring protesters from carrying buckets of feces during the Democratic National Convention.

Three protest groups say they've already promised not to toss, smear or spray feces, and they call the new ordinance insulting and excessive.

The council approved the ordinance 12-0 on Monday. It also bars protesters from possessing chains, locks or other materials they could use to create human barricades or cause other disruptions.

Members of Re-create 68, Unconventional Action and Tent State University say the ordinance is overkill because they have signed an agreement not to use excrement.

The protesters the DNC and Denver are preparing for are anarchists and communists. Organizations like the Black Block do a lot more damage than right wingers praying on a sidewalk in front of abortion clinics. If that's what Denver was preparing for they would need only about 2 cops.

Not to needlessly stir the pot here, but if all you think right-wing crazies do is hold hands and pray for women outside abortion clinics, you should check out a thing called the internet..you can find all sorts of right-wing wackos who go bat-shit crazy and blow shit up and kill people. See: McVeigh, Tim, etc etc etc etc. And that one dude who shot up the church recently because they were getting "too liberal." I'm not trying to single out right-wing or left-wing here..I think that extremists on EITHER side of the spectrum are dangerous individuals. I was just saying that I couldn't find in that previous article who was protesting the DNC Convention...but if you'd like to debate which political extremists in America have killed more people and done more crazy ass inexplicable shit, I'm pretty sure it'll be a fairly one-sided argument.

First, I must say there are extremists on all sides, however, there is little doubt the article is referring to crazy liberals.

Okay, I just got back from some DNC related training at work... This is going to be a major event. Many of the folks on this site who are in the Denver metro area have been involved in the planning of this event for months.

Stay tuned, because I think things will get "interesting" here in a couple more weeks.

Incidentally, is this the first time USAToday has used a headline with the word "poop" in it? Is this how they're going to roll nowadays? If so, I need to apply as a headline writer there. I'll set the Guiness World Record for number of times "taint" is used in a major newspaper. I've got my work cut out for me, thanks those gutter-minded editors at The Forward.

I don't need the condescension like I'm an idiot who isn't aware of what's out there or how to use the Internet. Why don't you try the Internet and look up Black Bloc because that's what's gonna hit Denver. That is a very different MO from the right wing crazies.

It's not the right wing crazies that are going to hit the convention. It's not the right wing crazies who carry buckets of crap to protests. It's not the right wing crazies who throw Molotov cocktails at cops. If you look at Seattle, the WTO riots, and the riots in Europe the PREDOMINANT problem are the communists and anarchists.

The right wing crazies have a different MO (sniping, and bombs like in Atlanta seem to be the preferred way to go there.)
