Dallas Police Credit Homicide Detectives In Murder Rate Drop

DALLAS -- Dallas' murder rate is down 25 percent, and police are crediting homicide detectives for the new numbers.
There were 140 murders at this time last year, but only 105 so far this year, police said in a Thursday news conference and news release.
The goal of the DPD was to reduce this year's murders by 10 percent, police said.

Dallas police they are seeing a decrease in crime, NBC 5 reports.
The homicide unit has a clearance rate of 76 percent, which is 20 percent higher than the national average for this type of case, police said.
In the past 48 hours, detectives have arrested three murder suspects on three separate investigations, police said.
